HCI Research
In the course of doing applied HCI work, our group maintains an interest in extending the basic knowledge of HCI as a field. Our primary lines of research are described below, and papers on some of these topics are available in the publications section of this site.
Mixed-Initiative Planning
In collaboration with JPL and Carnegie Mellon University, we are working toward a set of broadly applicable and empirically based user requirements for planning systems as well as a prototype of a human interface that embodies this set of principles.
Human Performance Modeling
Cognitive Constraint Modeling (CCM) is an approach to modeling interactive human performance with constraint satisfaction techniques.
Collaborative Decision Making
Our research focuses on understanding the effects of different types of interactive technologies on critical aspects of collaborative decision-making and problem solving processes.
